Jan 20, 21 Update

Our dear parents,

This update comes to you a little late… please forgive us but the first 24 hours are very hectic…

We have arrived very safely… and everybody is in great shape…

We visited the grotto of Jeitta and walked out in awe at the amazing displays of nature there… absolutely wonderful…

The trip to the cedars was very interesting and we got our first glimpse of snow fairly low in the mountains this year… by the time we got to the Cedars it was pretty cold and beginning to snow… it was very cold… -2oC.

We measured for the skis and gear the same night under heavy snow and bitter cold…we were now ready…

We started today with breakfast and have skied incessantly from 9:30am on soft and fresh snow. The snow was still pouring as we went up and down the ski slopes…it was a phenomenal sensation. During the day, the crew from the LBC show “Nharak Saeed” interviewed and filmed us… we are going to be stars on their show this week… Please record the transmission so we can see it together… It is scheduled for this Tuesday or Wednesday.

We spent the afternoon inside the hotel and played fun games and competitive challenges…Some of us have been designated as kitchen detail. Their job is to assist the chefs in our dinner…We hope the chef does not let them interfere a lot…

Tomorrow promises to be a great day… the weather forecast is good… we own the slopes… the skiing experience is wonderful…

Mom and Dad, we thank you for your trust and love and hope that we can repay you…

For now we sign off… we miss you a little

Jan 22 Update

This update comes to you after a day of total incubation…

Our dear parents,

The temperature dropped overnight to –13oC and the mountains got swept in a blistering snowstorm… the ice is everywhere... the drifting snow and fog reduce visibility to a few meters…

The fact that we are here, in all of this, is just amazing…

We spent the day playing games, watching DVDs and just plain kicking back and relaxing in our cozy hotel…hot chocolate and tea…

They are telling us that the storm will pass tonight and tomorrow we will hit the slopes again… we cannot wait… the skiing shoes are dry and the slopes are waiting…

The internet connection from here is very peculiar and the weather does not help the uplink connections to Dubai… bear with us mom and dad... we are trying very hard to continuously update you on our news and photos… if we have forgotten anyone in the pictures please email us and we will take care of it…

We miss you today a little bit more than yesterday… but then again we did not ski today…

Our love from the Cedars…

Jan 23 Update

Our dear parents,

Wednesday has been a glorious day… we woke up to the most gratifying sight after the snowstorm subsided…a blanket of serene white had shrouded everything…a very peaceful and awe inspiring sight…

The ice in the trees was slowly breaking off the higher branches and cascading through to the ground…the blue sky was back with us… the cold air was crisp and fresh…

We were back… nothing was going to take us off the slopes today…

And nothing did...Ski and ski and ski…this is what we came for, and after yesterday as a day off, we were very hungry…no one complained…no leg pain, no I can’t…everyone of us was very anxious to apply both their hard-earned and any imaginary skills…

But hey…most of us are good and some of us are really amazing. Those will go to the upper slopes…

Mr. Nabil Nasr the President of the school and Mrs. Nasr, the Principal of Al Mawakeb Al Barsha, visited us today and watched us skiing. They were very proud of us and they hugged and kissed most of us… it was very nice to see them up here and show them what we have learned…

We were interviewed by the LBC news team, and they promised they would air it on Thursday at 19:30 Beirut time. That puts it at 21:30 Dubai time on Thursday… Please record it for me Mom.

We celebrated the birthdays of Ali and Salwa. It was nice to share it with them…

Mr. Michel started a fantastically exciting table tennis tournament… Reef is in the semis… I lost there mom but it was fun…

Tomorrow we ski in the morning and visit the town of Bcharre and The museum of Jibran in the afternoon…

Watch for our next update….

…We love and miss you more by the minute…

Jan 24 update

Our dear parents,

We are the stars of the cedars… Thursday brought adventures and more TV coverage…LBC gave us 4 minutes on their satellite channel… did you watch it ??? Future TV and Zen interviewed us and we are going to be there too…

Today we skied in ideal conditions. The snow was fast…The sky was deep blue. It was warm and sunny…just perfect…

The guys who made it to the high slopes are really good now… they had so much fun…I hope I make it there next trip…

Tomorrow some of us are going on a very special adventure…cross country on a snow mobile…they say that the areas they will visit are fantastic and cannot be reached otherwise…absolutely untouched by humans… Wow…must be amazing…

Today we visited the museum of Jubran Khalil Jibran here in Bcharre… it was very interesting and educational… it reminded us of school…too bad we can’t just completely forget that part of our lives…

Tomorrow is our last skiing day… then we come home…we look forward to seeing you and telling you our adventures…our rises and falls…the details of it…

We checked for emails today and got a glimpse of the web site the school set up for the trip…pretty awesome…we are glad we are part of this team…

Check out the awards page …I won one today…

It is late now…We will post more news for you tomorrow…

…We love and really miss you …
