Sunday 20th of
January,
Departure from Dubai and Arriving at Beirut Airport
Destination 1:
Jeita Grotto
A brunch will be awaiting the AMS Students, before visiting one of
the world's most beautiful caverns found about 20 km north of Beirut. (The
caverns are on two levels: the lower caverns are visited by boat over a
subterranean lake 623 meters long, while a dry upper gallery can be seen on
foot.)
Destination 2:
The Cedars
This resort settlement in Lebanon's highest range is one of the most
dramatically beautiful spots in the country. The resort is set in an area of
unusual natural and historical interest. Its centerpiece is an ancient grove
of cedars. The AMS Students will check-in at a down-home atmosphere lodge.
The measuring for the ski equipments will take place just before dinner.
Destination 3:
The Slopes
The AMS Students will spend there the most five amazing days with 7 monitors
who will help them enjoy the quality of the snow that makes it an
exceptional skiing venue where the pists form a natural amphitheatre.
Destination 4:
Bcharré
The village of Bcharré is home to the Gibran Museum - the famous
author/artist was born here and is buried in an old monastery overlooking
the town. The museum has a large collection of his oil paintings, drawings
and gouaches, as well as many of his manuscripts.
Destination 5:
Byblos
Byblos is one of the top contenders for the "oldest continuously
inhabited city" award. Although its beginnings are lost in time, modern
scholars say the site of Byblos goes back at least 7,000 years. It was here
that the first linear alphabet, ancestor of all modern alphabets (through
Greek and Latin), was invented. After visiting the site, a quick and
entertaining introduction to Lebanon's past will take place at the Wax
Museum near the castle. Here wax figures illustrate scenes from the history
and rural life of the country
