Dear Mom
and Dad,
It has
been a week and I really miss you…as much as I want to go back I am
finding more reasons to stay…
The storm they promised us is upon us… from the confines of our hotel
lounge, we have watched the mountains disappear in a white cloak… whiter
and brighter and more magnificent than before…the blistering wind drives
the snowflakes until they sheath and envelope all. From our cozy lounge,
and from near the fireplace, the severity and harshness of the mountain
weather is unreal… the peace and beauty of the driven snow hide a
fearful and awesome power, at once mysterious and chilling…
We have had another glorious day etched into our memories and the future
poets among us can someday write about friendships forged and moments
spent and shared near a small fire in the Cedars of Lebanon…
I have made so many new friends whom I have helped when they needed and
who have been there for me when I really missed you…I am coming back
more wise and mature, I think…
We did not make the meeting with his
Excellency Prime Minister Hariri…The storm took care of that…We were so
looking forward to his audience…Maybe next visit to Lebanon…
We spent the day preparing for our own
storm…our talent show is bursting with talent…the setting is beautiful
inside this cozy chalet…A fireplace in the back and a wooden
surrounding…I am part of this chain of mimics that starts with a song,
goes through a Hitler speech, spins around a Soprano and Celine Dione,
and finishes with a Indian interpretation of the political crisis
between 2 world leaders…absolutely hilarious…
Tomorrow we are going to be escorted off
our now beloved mountains…2 huge snow ploughs will make a safe and
smooth exit for us…We will spend the afternoon in Beirut and then we
will fly home…I can’t wait…I miss the warmth of Dubai and Home…
I really miss you all…
